MICRO HEAD PLUS FOR COTTARELLI FLY TYING VISES
Franco Cottarelli's new head is unique, like his entire system of vises for tying artificial flies.
Unlike classic heads that fix the hook by clamping it between two jaws, with the MICRO HEAD PLUS the hook is fixed on tension. The advantage is that excellent locking of the hook is achieved with minimal effort.
By turning the knurled aluminium knob, the eyelet is moved forward so that you can insert the hook into the opening. Now turn the knurled knob in the opposite direction so that the eye is pulled towards the clamping notch, to which the hook is then fixed in tension.
Fly hooks up to a minimum size of #18 can be mounted well and tightly. For the maximum hook size, the guide value #6 applies, although the limit is actually only given by the maximum opening of the eyelet itself. As long as the hook can be inserted into this opening, it can also be fixed and thus used to tie your flies without any problems.
As with all other products from Cottarelli, this MICRO HEAD PLUS is made of high-quality materials such as aluminium, steel and brass, so that everything is very robust and durable.
In addition to the usual 360° rotation along the main axis, the MICRO HEAD PLUS is also equipped with 3 adjustable joints that allow you almost unlimited setting possibilities for the positioning of the fly hook. In addition, you can position the hook so that it rotates perfectly around its own axis.
If the screws of the joints are not tightened too rigidly, they provide excellent stability during tying, while maintaining all movement possibilities without the need to adjust the joints specifically.
A standard size 7 spanner, preferably a socket spanner (not included), is used to open and close the screws on the joints.
The MICRO HEAD PLUS by Cottarelli fits both the standard base and the travel base. It is not compatible with the pocket vise, however.
